Environmentally Safe Cleaning Products

Many people run away screaming when they see the words "environmentally safe." Fear of being labeled tree huggers, some people just don't want to open their eyes to see what the words really mean. If you don't care about the trees, and the streams, and the health of others "out there" you don't have to in order for environmentally safe products to mean something to YOU.

Your home is an environment in itself. Don't you want it to be safe? During pregnancy, most women become especially careful and more educated about things that go on in the home. Since cleaning the home is traditionally one of women's many responsibilities in the home, it is integral that we examine the cleaning practices and products we use every day. Even if you have someone else cleaning your home, keep in mind that product residue is left behind, and can be detrimental even if you aren't breathing in the fumes while cleaning.

There are many products on the market that are considered safe. Most can be found at Whole Foods stores. I have used a variety of these, and used mostly Melaleuca until I got paranoid that their products are not as safe as they claim. Their ingredients are proprietary, so they will not submit them for inspection. But the best thing about using safe products is that you can make them right in your own home! This not only saves money, but allows you to tweak formulas for day to day cleaning or heavy duty cleaning.

Children are very sensitive to ALL scents, fumes, and gases. Do NOT use bleach to sterilize your home before the baby arrives. A "dirty" home is better than a home cleaned with bleach. I was so afraid of using our horrible cleaning products near my children that I literally cleaned a lot with just water (or didn't clean at all). You should be careful during your pregnancy, as well as during your baby's infancy that you keep harmful cleaning products out of reach and out of use. Changing your cleaning habits now will also help protect your toddler or other children in the home who are often attracted to dangerous chemicals that come in fun spray bottles and bright colors.

If you are interested in making change immediately, check this out! Purchase these environmentally safe cleaning instructions, and you will receive 3 sheets, front and back, with instructions on cleaning your kitchen, bathroom, living room, floors and carpets. It also includes natural air fresheners, metal polish, mold & mildew removal, as well as natural laundry methods. As a bonus, you will also receive a list of ingredients to watch out for in your current cleaning supplies. These sheets are laminated so that you can use them while mixing and using the ingredients during your cleaning session. Supplies are in bold print, so that you can see what you will need for each task, or to make your shopping list. Also, the font is pretty large for easier reading.
