So....it's been MONTHS and you are still carrying
around that extra "baby weight." Exercise is out of the question, because your
main task of the day right now is trying to find the time to get yourself a
shower. Been there! And I can tell you that there IS a light at the end of the
tunnel!
With my first baby, I lost the weight only because I
was suffering a little bit from
PPD and my son and I *had* to get out and take
walks everyday. So it just sort of happened. I thought I'd do the same thing
once my daughter arrived, but with them both being so young, the walks were
horrible because at least one of them would cry or need something. (Not to
mention the stroller was now HEAVY and difficult to push up the hill!) So, I
admit I carried around some extra weight for a little longer than I'd like. But
my daughter will be 3 in 2 months as of this writing, and I am now down to my
pre-baby weight! As a matter of fact, I now weigh what I weighed when I married
my husband in 1999. That doesn't seem like such a great feat, but I'm also 34,
and we all know what happens once you turn 30...
How did I lose my baby weight?
When my daughter was 18 months old, I started taking
Nutritional Supplements. I
immediately lost 4 lbs. Everyone tends to lose some weight when they start
these, but they are NOT weight loss supplements. I also learned about eating
low-glycemic foods, and used Macro-optimizers' shakes and bars
as snacks throughout the day. But I also ate junk here and there. I lost an
additional 4 lbs. I was now at my "pre-baby" weight. Just recently, I did
a
5-day RESET, and lost
another 3 lbs. After the cleanse, I was very careful about what I ate. I am
taking part in Dr. Ray Strand's Healthy for Life program at
www.releasingfat.com and it is pretty good at holding me accountable
to my new eating plan. I have not gone hungry at all in all of this. I eat as
much as I want, and eat lots of fruits, veggies, lean meat, nuts, Usana
shakes/bars, eggs, and drink lots of
distilled water. I do have a treat from
time to time, but before, I was having treats all day! I can't believe how great
I feel. It isn't only about weight, it's about energy level and reaching a level
of health that otherwise seemed unattainable.
If your baby is still quite young, you can start
now. Just forget the old saying, "I'm eating for two..." (if you're nursing) and
make sure there are plenty of healthy snacks available to you throughout the day
that are easy to grab when you are doing 5 things at one time (welcome to
mommyhood!) If you really mess up one day, just know that you can start over
tomorrow and you are NOT doomed! Just try your best every day to make positive
food choices and eventually you will see a difference in your waistline.
P.S. It helps to get moving, too. Check out my new
exercise regimen.
